I’ve never successfully kept a journal. I’ve tried in the past, but I would write in it for a week and then completely forget about it. Weeks or months later I would open it up and read my few entries and I would want to scrap the whole thing. A few years ago a friend gave me a beautiful leather notebook. Not wanting to ruin the pages, it sat empty on a shelf for months. That is until I was browsing inspirational quotes on Pinterest and I got the idea that I should write down the good ones. Eureka! A quote book. Now any time I read a quote that inspires me or describes something I had been feeling but didn’t have to words to describe, I write it in the book. This page is composed of all my favourites.

Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, however small. And in return, life -and travel- leaves marks on you. Most of the time those marks -on your body or on your heart – are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.
When I look up at the night sky, and I know that yes we are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up- many people feel small, cause they’re small and the universe is big. But I feel big because my atoms came from those stars
Neil deGrasse Tyson
She always had that about her, that look of otherness, of eyes that see things much too far, and of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world.
